Local tennis club serves up family fun and new events for 2019 season

March 20, 2019  l  Medicine Hat, Alberta

Medicine Hat Tennis Club (MHTC) is serving up opportunities for players of all ages and abilities this season with lessons, tournaments and special events, including the Alberta Outdoor Junior Open in June and the Alberta 55+ Games in July.

Registration for general membership and lessons is already open. Those interested in enrolling their children in tennis or learning the game themselves are encouraged to attend Demo Daze at the Family Leisure Centre on Mar. 30 where they can try the sport, ask questions and register for lessons. This event, which is hosted by the City of Medicine Hat, is a great opportunity to discover what the club has to offer.

“For people looking for a fun and affordable activity the whole family can enjoy, the tennis club is a great fit,” says Ken Clement, MHTC’s general manager. “There’s a real sense of community here and we look forward to welcoming new members to the sport this season.”

In addition to the annual club tournament schedule, MHTC is proud to play host to the Alberta Outdoor Junior Open and the tennis events for the Alberta 55+ Games this summer.

“We are excited to host these events at our club and showcase our wonderful facility. They also provide our members with an opportunity to watch other high caliber players in action and get involved as volunteers,” adds Clement.

More information about these provincial events will be available in the weeks ahead. The 2019 tennis season officially starts with the annual club clean up on Saturday, Apr. 6. The AGM and Spring Mix & Match fun event are scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 27.
